A Low-cost EMG-EOG Signal Conditioning System for Brain Computer Interface Applications

چکیده
The objective of this work is to design and construct a low cost Electromyogram (EMG) and Electrooculogram (EOG) signal conditioning system for assistive device applications. The proposed circuit is designed for capturing surface EMG signal and EOG signal available on the surface of the human skin. This paper describes the system containing two units: signal detection unit and signal conditioning unit. The developed electronic circuit is also interfaced with PC-based data acquisition and analysis software LABVIEW for recording of signals. The recorded EMG and EOG signal may be further analysed and correlated with the control of assistive devices. It is proposed to use the results for study of man-machine interaction such as development of control for assistive devices. KeywordEMG, Electrodes, Filter design, man-machine interaction

Brain-computer interfaces (BCI) record brain signals, analyze and translate them into control commands which are relayed to output devices that carry out desired actions. These systems do not use normal neuromuscular output pathways. Actually, the principal goal of BCI systems is to provide better life style for physically-challenged people which are suffered from cerebral palsy, amyotrophic l...
متن کاملEMG and EOG artifacts in brain computer interface systems: A survey.
It is widely accepted in the brain computer interface (BCI) research community that neurological phenomena are the only source of control in any BCI system. Artifacts are undesirable signals that can interfere with neurological phenomena. They may change the characteristics of neurological phenomena or even be mistakenly used as the source of control in BCI systems. Electrooculography (EOG) and...

In the brain computer interface (BCI) research field, a neurological occurrence is the only source of control in any BCI system. Artifacts are contrary signals that can affect with neurological phenomena. These artifacts may lead to the source of control in BCI systems. Electromyography (EMG) and electrooculography (EOG) artifacts are physiological artifacts that are carefully processed in BCI ...
